What hazards lurk around the home?
Many adults and children are harmed every year from household hazards. These injuries could have been avoided with awareness. Some are obvious and others less obvious, but at any count proper measures should be taken.
We often face a hazard because we live in the rushed and fast paced world. Always busy and always rushed. Many hazards happen to children. The parents are so busy they do not pay attention to what the child is doing.
The most avoidable is surely children being the victim of accidental poisoning. Kids are curious and will not hesitate to taste things. Especially things that look like kool-aid or candy such as cleaning products and pills.
Hazards are not just inside the house either. They are in our yards as well. Things such as jagged rocks and sharp objects in the lawn can cause significant damage. We also have to look out for critters that crawl around outside.
Another obvious hazard is electrical shock. Many children stick things into sockets each year causing, burns, fires and even death. We should also keep electrical appliances away from water.
Many people are burnt or scalded from simple household occurrences such as bathing or cooking. Be sure your water heater is functioning properly and always use caution when cooking meals.
When you choose to have firearms in the household take extra precautions to protect you and your family. Always look guns away in a safe place. It is also a very good idea to keep firearms and ammunition separated.
If simple safety measures are used around the home many household hazards can be avoided? We should also know basic first aid if an avoidable hazards sticks. It is also important to be attentive and slow down.
